Why would I pay for a theme that has been free for over 5 years now? Bundling your free and open source tools and selling them seem like the most crooked way of building a business. I just don't get the point at all.

Don't get me wrong, I love the theme and been using it for years but that's not the proper way of asking for financial support. I'd pay for a Patreon, or any kind of other financial support instead, before buying this kind of unreasonably expensive package.
How it's different from Sublime. Sublime by default free to use, however it has Dev channel where you need to pay to use it.
Everyone who has creativity, can sell their products on their own wish. Love it, buy it. Not interested, ignore it. But this sort of criticism is not expected!

Interestingly, the more severe response of "check or cancel all flights to China" would not have worked, because by January 21th, the virus started community transmission in Germany and Italy.
But stocking up the mask and respirator and PPE reserve immediately would not have gone amiss, nor would fever checks at airports, public buildings etc.
I feel like the problem with stocking up on material is that it would have to be done before the outbreak even began in China. By mid january, China was vacuuming the market completely for equipment and from there on it has only gotten worse for any country that didnt have domestic production, as countries who did started banning exports.
USA banned flights from/to China. Italy banned flights from/to China. (both decisions caused an outcry about "racism" at the time, btw) Other countries kept the flights going.
USA and Italy are now the countries hit hardest despite these restrictions, because the economy is global.
Either all countries must react properly, or a single country's actions won't do anything. Good luck with that.
China had already locked the doors within their country to try and contain it. Anyone who isn’t a Chinese National can fly in and out of China for the United States.
We didn’t ban flights, we banned Chinese citizens.

Eeehhh, this kind of comment erases a lot of the default things you get with Cocoa/AppKit (document handling, system integration, etc). These concepts aren't as widely understood as the concepts in web-dev-land because they're implementation specific, but they're pretty well designed and genuinely very powerful once you use them.
Being different was itself weird back then, while it's almost normal now. Being long haired and stoned and consciousness oriented, among short haired short sleeved pocket protected engineering units was especially weird.

Not high performing enough to make sure your website shows something with javascript off? That's a freaking blog and all I see is a white blank page. Using React for a blog is kinda over-engineering it nope?

No? Use what makes you happy as an engineer. If that's react, use react. Sure, you might miss some viewers who haven't enabled JS, but if the above comment is representative then they weren't going to give constructive feedback anyhow.
Maybe it is, but as long as the site works, it's fine by me ;)
If we want to try something fancy later, that's hard or hacky to do with WordPress, all I have to do is add a bit of JS and create some new endpoints in our Flask app.
Ultimately, like the other comment said, I enjoy working with React and I wanted to see where it would take me.
Non corporate job is not a solution? I've been freelancing for the last 3 years doing very good money and having great clients, doing everything I want, how I want them, convincing my clients to use cool tech and teaching them at the same time. There's a lot of other ways to get a nice resume other than having shitty jobs. All corporate jobs I had were total nightmares, I wouldn't go back for nothing in the world to be quite honest. Low salary, bottom feeding whores waiting for the next project to rapidly spit out to get more done faster every week with tons of never ending meetings, no thanks. I'll go back to my home office, with my coffee, music, cat and awesome living room to take breaks in.
