i learned working in customer support that if you give someone a helpline their brain stop working. they will ask any little stupid thing even if in reality they can know the answer, look it up or reason about it. they are not dumb but the helpline cripples them...
AI is a helpline, so for a lot of people it cripples them. they cease to think. simple as that.
its something people need to be aware of that their brains work like this, because that awareness is the same thing that solves the problem. (people find it very confronting to learn they have been asking questions they knew the answers too already...)
Modplug was fun but i am missing Renoise in the list perhaps because it is not free or open source. but its really cheap for a DAW and amazing tracker. afaik its also inspired on fast/pro tracker but i am not sure as i only used modplug before renoise. maybe its much newer, i started in 2004 or so so i missed a lot ofnthe history :)
Renoise is a great tol, but in some cases a bit too feature packed for some people. I do see it used a lot, and I also occasionally do. But playback of a .mod/.med is much easier and 'guaranteed' among devices, this is why I prefer it; more self-contained.
they are quite good also at placement and creating scenes etc. I had one implement a cascading shadow system in vulkan/glfw and just fed it back screenshots with peter pannin and acne spots etc.
it made a huge monstrosity first, 1500+ lines of shader code. Once it was happy with the result (it looked pretty good, almost blenders gamerenderer) it cleaned it up and a lot of debug code was removed. shrank it down to about 350 lines and made it much more readable.
this was something i didnt expect it to be able to do. create shaders, look at screenshots, fix em iteratively like that. multi modal debugging.
i liken it to ADHD medicine. if you give it early in life then people often end up using it and benefitting from it. Later life diagnoses see people not take the medicine because their condition has become their person and changing that feels like it changes them too much from themselves.
Ultimately its all about being able to manage your life. If you run into troubles due to some condition it can cause to want a drug for it, but if you can manage often it can feels wrong to take it.

I also see this sentiment frequently but as someone who was diagnosed later in life I couldn't relate to it less. The scattered brain has lead me down some interesting (and fruitful) paths I wouldn't have explored otherwise, but 95% of the time it just distracts me from goals that are actually meaningful to me in the long term, and adds social friction and conflict.
I'd like to see someone study why there's such a stark difference in how people perceive it. Stimulant medication, good sleep, physical activity all help somewhat but they just take it down a notch. There are some aspects where they help a lot and others where they barely make a difference.
i hope thei asked the LLM to quickly patch it so now there is something else as stupidly broken -_- my god these guys are rubbish at engineering. its like they really need some tool to do it for them o.O so weird
exactly this. Id think the main thing for this would be to get midi controllers working. its a digital tool for digital djs. looks a bit niche ofc if you look at 'the market' etc. but as OP said for newer thigs like algorave and just for fun it looks pretty cool :D.
id love this workin on a phone with a little usb-c midi controller attached!
Sounds about right to me. I once thought it would maybe help me get a job. It just let users, especially head hunters contact you requesting to join your group and harvesting it for their own purposes. Good idea once now totally abused and so much spam and garbage from people that know so little.
