Another option is a piece of corrugated cardboard. Poke the screws into cardboard in the pattern they are in the device you're disassembling.

I have an F100 sitting in a box somewhere waiting for repair. At some point I snapped the finger off the ring around the lens mount which couples the lens aperture. Stupid thing is plastic and easy to snag or bump.

I had a very similar single experience with Om: I was introduced completely randomly while he was at True Ventures; he couldn't have been nicer, more curious, or more genuine despite me almost certainly reading like a total waste of time.
