I am a product and technology executive who operates across P&L, product strategy, organizational leadership, architecture, and code.
At EBSCO, I owned two business units spanning identity and API platforms: a 60-person global organization, $20M budget, eight direct reports, and infrastructure supporting $700M+ in recurring revenue. I prevented a proposed $60M/year CIAM commitment, captured $5M+ in vendor savings, cut customer onboarding from months to two days, and led platforms through ISO 27001 and FedRAMP authorization while sustaining five-nines availability.
I currently lead product and engineering for SignalWeb.ai, a production multitenant generative-AI media platform, and built a 120GB campaign-intelligence lakehouse processing 367M FEC records and 61M election-result rows. I also serve as Managing Partner at Axion Ventures, leading venture underwriting and startup-development teams.
Earlier, I shipped Oracle's first mobile point-of-sale product, built and sold a municipal SaaS business serving 43 cities, engineered distributed payment systems, and authored a book on distributed computing.
I am most useful when a company needs one executive to connect product, engineering, AI/data, cloud, security, economics, GTM, and organizational design. I am interested in leadership mandates with enough scope to use that range.
I hate to pile on, but I listened to the podcast OP linked above. It doesn't make the situation sound any better. It is worse, actually. OP is tone deaf going on this podcast talking about the toxic, racist, misogynistic culture with seemingly no awareness of his contribution to it.
I think his experience of racism and "shitboy" may have desensitised him to the whole thing. He was there for years before I joined and honestly, it was meant to be better then and had a bunch of work on the culture but it was still pretty shitty.
I remember once I semi-joked "You guys talk about a culture problem in IT, it sounds like you have a Tejas problem" and he generally looked like he felt bad about it.
I did feel bad about it. I'm glad you said that, and I'm thankful for how it made me feel. It is exactly that feeling that continued to inspire growth and change. No doubt, I feel it again as people continue to pile on here. This is really good, because it will inspire even more growth, and more positive change.
When I ran a client facing company I never worked for equity. Working for equity is the same as working for free. It will take valuable time away from your money making projects and your personal "free time" projects.
Money is money. Equity is not.
Edit: I assume you're in business or moonlighting for profit.
Server-side and mobile device developer. Developing mobile applications for iOS, Android and BlackBerry. Server-side communication done with JavaEE, Ruby on Rails or CakePHP.
Successful projects that I have launched myself include the CityReporter applications used by over 20 cities in the United States.
It's a service for state and local governments to improve their customer service relationship with their citizens. It implements the Open311 GeoReport v2 API, meaning the data is open and Free.
We could really use a nice theme for the web administration interface! I have no idea if that fits within your 5 allotted hours though.
