I cannot believe that the central crease could disappear altogether!
Suspiciously could not see reviews of it yet - usually bloggers like mkbhd get their hands on early, and they release the reviews moment the embargo is off, usually when live event is over. This time nothing.
The interesting thing is, most messages were ending with just one question of his. Examples:
- ..Does this polynomial map have any symmetry or other structure that makes this cancelation less miraculous?
- Given this structure can you see the non injectivity in a transparent way?
- ..But why is the jacobian from x u r to P Q R just a monomial?
- ..Is there a general theory of such twisted jacobians and do you have any sense why those particular dilation weights were used?
- Given this weight structure, why exactly is x given by a cubic equation from P,Q,R?
Also, looks like Terence Tao was doing lot of work and asking LLM to verify. This is inverse of the LLM trend, where LLM does the work and humans verify.
> ..because the entire AI bubble is a result of everybody running out of hypergrowth ideas, mostly because we're flat out of new interfaces.
Really? I thought the AI bubble happened because something genuinely novel had been invented. People immediately saw practical uses for it, and then it took on a life of its own - funding, superfunding, $trillions becoming part of day to day lingo.. etc.
AI is not in the same class as Vision Pro, which Ed Zitron is comparing it to. I personally found the overall tone to be a bit hyperbolic.
That would work other way too, EVs would be expensive to upgrade to newer models. Though nowadays it is not that big a concern, but battery pack replacement at some point need to be accounted for.
> Altman and other OpenAI executives have suggested that each of America’s leading AI developers allot 5 per cent of their equity to a vehicle like the Alaska Permanent Fund, a sovereign fund that invests the state’s oil wealth into stocks and pays dividends to the state government and residents.
Sounds like it is for benefit of public rather than govt' office, and this would continue to benefit public even after current US administration is out of picture.
